Step by step
- Clean the space. Arrange your image or murti and materials. Wash your hands and sit quietly.
- Bring the purpose of your worship to mind. Remember the divine in the manner of your household tradition.
- Light the lamp on a safe, stable surface. Offer water and flowers if this is part of your family practice.
- Read a related prayer below that belongs to your practice. Open the available meanings for unfamiliar words.
- Offer naivedya. Perform your familiar aarti if customary. After the prayer, share prasad.
- Sit quietly for a moment, then put materials away. Do not leave a burning lamp unattended.

Different narrative contexts
Dussehra’s Ramlila setting concerns Rama’s victory over Ravana. Vijayadashami also relates to Devi’s victory over Mahishasura and the close of Navratri. Identify the narrative and region instead of making one account universal. The Delhi Tourism reference concerns Ramlila and local public celebrations, not every region’s ritual procedure.

Victory imagery can prompt reflection on arrogance, falsehood or injustice in daily conduct; this is an editorial exercise, not a literal translation of a verse. Read with family and hear children’s questions. Ask about another community’s source before judging its celebration.

Programme and observance
A local Ramlila or public event may be scheduled around holidays and convenience. Confirm the ritual Dashami separately from the programme time, and ask the organiser about access, crowds and fireworks. For overseas observance, check both place and tradition. No another-city muhurat is prescribed here.
