Many festivals depend on a lunar tithi, local sunrise and a prescribed worship period. City, tradition and region can legitimately affect the date.

कई त्योहार तिथि, सूर्योदय और पूजा के निर्धारित समय पर निर्भर करते हैं। शहर, संप्रदाय और क्षेत्र के अनुसार अलग तारीख उचित हो सकती है।
Meaningful preparation
Read complete prayers, household customs, food and charity guidance alongside local event information. A calendar observance date and a temple’s scheduled celebration are different things.

पूरे पाठ, परिवार की परंपरा, भोजन, दान और सार्वजनिक आयोजन की जानकारी साथ देखें। कैलेंडर की तारीख और मंदिर के कार्यक्रम का समय अलग चीजें हैं।
Calendars and local days
Many festivals depend on a tithi, while others concern an asterism or a solar transition. Their Gregorian dates need not stay fixed every year. A global website should state city, time zone and tradition together. Converting an Indian clock time to an American one is not a universal ritual rule, because sunrise and evening are local. Community programmes may also take place on a convenient weekend.

कई त्योहार तिथि पर, कुछ नक्षत्र या सौर प्रवेश पर आधारित होते हैं। Gregorian calendar पर दिन हर वर्ष समान नहीं रहता। एक विश्वव्यापी वेबसाइट को शहर, समय-क्षेत्र और परंपरा साथ बतानी चाहिए। भारत की तारीख को केवल अमेरिकी घड़ी में बदलना हर अनुष्ठान का नियम नहीं है, क्योंकि सूर्योदय तथा सन्ध्याकाल स्थानीय होते हैं। सामुदायिक कार्यक्रम कभी सुविधा के सप्ताहांत में आयोजित होते हैं।
One name, several contexts
Diwali includes Lakshmi worship, Rama narratives, Krishna-related commemorations and regional new-year traditions. Navratri includes distinct practices such as garba, Durga Puja and golu alongside goddess worship. Reducing them to one aarti or narrative leaves out much of the celebration. Respect a household’s observance and identify the tradition from which its particular form comes.

दीपावली में लक्ष्मी पूजा, राम-कथा, कृष्ण से जुड़ी स्मृतियाँ और अलग क्षेत्रीय नववर्ष-परंपराएँ मिलती हैं। नवरात्रि में देवी की उपासना के साथ गरबा, दुर्गा पूजा और गोलू जैसे अलग रूप हैं। उन्हें केवल एक आरती या कथा में सीमित करने से बहुत कुछ छूटता है। किसी परिवार के आयोजन का सम्मान करें और उसका रूप किस परंपरा से आया है यह नाम देकर लिखें।
How to use a preparation guide
A preparation checklist helps you remember materials, time and guests’ needs. It is not a replacement for a specialised sacrifice, initiation or complete ritual manual. Decide your procedure first, then check the local programme and prepare materials. Ask an appropriate priest when a ceremony requires guidance. Spending beyond your means is not a necessary measure of devotion. Include service, sharing food and cleanup in the celebration.

तैयारी की सूची सामग्री, समय और अतिथियों की जरूरतें याद रखने में सहायता है। उसे विशेष यज्ञ, दीक्षा या सम्पूर्ण कर्मकाण्ड का विकल्प न मानें। पहले अपनी विधि, फिर स्थानीय कार्यक्रम, फिर सामग्री तय करें। जरूरत हो तो उचित पुरोहित से विधि पूछें। अपनी क्षमता से अधिक खरीदारी धार्मिक श्रद्धा का अनिवार्य माप नहीं है। उत्सव के बाद सेवा, भोजन साझा करना और सफाई भी कार्यक्रम का हिस्सा रखें।
Observance day and public programme
A ritual observance and a public programme can fall on different days. An overseas temple may hold a gathering at a weekend without moving the religious date everywhere. Read the programme announcement, then ask separately about local ritual timing. Some festivals depend on lunar tithis, others on solar transitions or regional calendars. A Gregorian date alone does not explain the full rule. The same name may have different monthly, narrative or procedural contexts. City, tradition and source status keep those distinctions visible.
त्योहार का दिन और सार्वजनिक कार्यक्रम
धार्मिक तिथि और सार्वजनिक कार्यक्रम अलग हो सकते हैं। विदेश में मंदिर किसी बड़े उत्सव का सामुदायिक आयोजन सप्ताहांत पर रख सकता है। इसका अर्थ यह नहीं कि मूल धार्मिक दिन हर जगह उसी तारीख में बदल गया। पहले कार्यक्रम की घोषणा पढ़ें, फिर पूजा या व्रत के लिए स्थानीय धार्मिक समय पूछें। कुछ पर्व चन्द्र तिथि से, कुछ सौर संक्रमण से और कुछ क्षेत्रीय कैलेंडर से जुड़े हैं। केवल एक Gregorian तारीख से नियम का पूरा संदर्भ नहीं मिलता। वही नाम अलग महीना, कथा या विधि रख सकता है। शहर, परंपरा और source-status साथ रखने का उद्देश्य यही अंतर स्पष्ट करना है।
Adapt the checklist to your situation
First ask whether the household is performing a full ceremony or a simpler gathering, who will attend, who will read, what materials are needed, and who needs language or access assistance. This can be more useful than a large shopping list. The checklist stays in your browser and can be adapted to household practice. Related readings are complete selected works, not the full mantra sequence of every ceremony. An absent festival narrative is not replaced with another work falsely labelled as that narrative. Examine differing dates or explanations with sources and appropriate guidance.
