Shiva is worshipped as Mahadeva, Shankara and Bholenath. Nataraja expresses dance, the yogi form meditation, and the linga a sacred form of worship. Interpret these within their traditions.

Texts and narratives
Sacred narratives need not be treated as direct modern historical or physiological evidence. This collection begins with complete selected hymns and separately identified editorial meanings.
पाठ और कथा
कथाओं को आधुनिक इतिहास या शरीर-विज्ञान का प्रत्यक्ष प्रमाण कहना जरूरी नहीं है। शिव का संग्रह पूर्ण चयनित स्तोत्रों और उनके अलग संपादकीय अर्थों से शुरू होता है।
The form depicted here
Rudrashtakam, stanzas 3–4. Pale complexion, Ganga in the matted hair, crescent, neck serpent, earrings, blue throat, hide garment and skull garland. The meditation posture, trident, drum, third eye and mountain background are conventional supplements; these two stanzas do not enumerate every detail.
इस चित्र का नामित रूप
रुद्राष्टकम्, पद 3–4. हल्का गौर वर्ण, जटाओं में गंगा, चन्द्र, कण्ठ-सर्प, कुण्डल, नीलकण्ठ, चर्म-वस्त्र और मुण्डमाला। ध्यान-मुद्रा, त्रिशूल, डमरू, तीसरा नेत्र और पर्वतीय पृष्ठभूमि परिचित परंपरागत पूरक हैं; ये दो पद सभी विवरण नहीं गिनाते।
Yogi, householder and Nataraja
Calling Shiva only a god of destruction narrows a varied devotional world. The meditating yogi is associated with discipline and stillness; the householder alongside Parvati brings relationship and family into religious narratives. Nataraja’s dance is interpreted through traditions of creation, transformation and art. An attribute of one form need not appear in every other form. Nataraja’s dancing image and the matted-haired Shiva praised in Rudrashtakam have distinct contexts. The portrait here names its source; it does not catalogue every Shiva image.
योगी, गृहस्थ और नटराज
शिव को केवल विनाश का देवता कहना अनेक रूपों को छोटा कर देता है। ध्यानस्थ योगी का रूप तप और स्थिरता से जुड़ता है; पार्वती के साथ गृहस्थ रूप संबंध और परिवार के धार्मिक संदर्भ देता है। नटराज में नृत्य, सृष्टि और परिवर्तन के अर्थ परंपरा तथा कला में पढ़े जाते हैं। किसी एक रूप की विशेषता हर दूसरे रूप में दिखाना जरूरी नहीं। नटराज की अग्नि-वृत्त वाली मुद्रा और रुद्राष्टकम् का जटाधारी रूप अलग चित्रात्मक संदर्भ हैं। संग्रह में चुने हुए रूप का स्रोत दिया है; यह सभी शिव-मूर्तियों की सूची नहीं है।
Linga and darshan
The linga is a sacred form in temple and household worship. Its meaning should not be reduced to one English label or an internet claim. Devotees, Agamic practice, Puranic narratives and art history can discuss different aspects. Respectful questions help understanding. Permission to pour water, make offerings or touch an image differs between temples. Ask about sanctum access, abhisheka and visiting hours. The directory identifies fields that have not been confirmed.
लिंग और दर्शन
शिवलिंग मंदिर और गृह-उपासना में पवित्र रूप के रूप में मिलता है। उसका अर्थ किसी एक अंग्रेज़ी शब्द या इंटरनेट के दावे से तय न करें। भक्त, आगम, पुराणिक कथा और कला-इतिहास अलग स्तरों पर अर्थ बता सकते हैं। सम्मान से पूछना समझ बढ़ाता है। मंदिर में जल चढ़ाने या स्पर्श करने की अनुमति हर जगह समान नहीं होती। मुख्य गर्भगृह के नियम, अभिषेक की व्यवस्था और दर्शन का समय मंदिर से लें। निर्देशिका में जिन बातों की पुष्टि नहीं हुई है वे स्पष्ट लिखी हैं।
How to use the collection
In Rudrashtakam, notice prayer, description and the poet’s humility. Read Lingashtakam with its repeated refrain intact. Mechanical Roman transliteration of Shiva Tandava does not provide complete training in pronunciation or metre. A manageable routine may include one whole hymn, a portion of its explanation and an intention for conduct. Check edition and review status. Devotional fruit statements should not be converted into scientific medical claims or guarantees of worldly outcomes.
संग्रह कैसे पढ़ें
रुद्राष्टकम् पढ़ते समय प्रार्थना, रूप-वर्णन और कवि की विनय अलग पहचानें। लिंगाष्टकम् में बार-बार लौटने वाला पद छोड़े बिना पढ़ें। शिव-ताण्डव के यांत्रिक Roman से सभी छन्द और उच्चारण का प्रशिक्षण नहीं मिलता। छोटी नियमित पढ़ाई का विकल्प चुन सकते हैं: एक पूरा स्तोत्र, उसके अर्थ का एक भाग और व्यवहार के लिए एक संकल्प। स्रोत-विवरण में संस्करण और समीक्षा स्थिति देखें। किसी स्तोत्र के फल-वर्णन को वैज्ञानिक रोग-उपचार या निश्चित सांसारिक परिणाम की गारंटी न बनाएँ।
